NSLA: Linked up, loud and literate: Libraries enabling digital citizenship
Monday 29 August 2016 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Hetzel Lecture Theatre, State Library of South Australia
The third in a NSLA series of digital citizenship seminars will be held at the State Library of South Australia on 29 August 2016.
- What does it mean to be a digital citizen?
- What is the role of the library and information sector in developing and supporting digital citizenship?
- What kind of government information can and should we be able to access as citizens?
- What if you are not connected in your home?
This workshop explores the role of libraries alongside the concepts of participatory democracy, connection, digital service delivery, and freedom of access to information. Find out how government agencies are working with public libraries across the country to ensure those not connected to the digital superhighway have not only access, but support in the digital world.
Speakers from the library and information sector, and from government will explore these new realities. This follows two successful digital citizenship seminars at the National Library of New Zealand in November 2015 and the National Library of Australia in March 2016.
